Mike Hillmer currently works as a film and television editor, for WildBrain.com in Vancouver, BC.

 

Having worked in the film and television industry for over 20 years, he has had the opportunity to be involved with the development, creation, implementation and distribution of almost all forms of television and film content.

 

Dedicated and hardworking, he has taken on a wide variety of projects and contracts over his long career. In addition to his primary work as an editor, he still pursues work as a producer and videographer. Mike has also had the opportunity to be a production assistant, grip, technical director, VTR operator, lighting technician, and set deck builder.

 

Mike started his professional career in the sales and distribution of nonlinear editing equipment and video camera gear. This gave him the advantage, early in his career, of learning to: 1) use a wide variety of equipment; and 2) adapt to multiple systems and set-ups. In this sales/distribution role, Mike operated - and instructed others in the operation of - video cameras from manufacturers such as Sony, Canon, Panasonic and JVC; he also installed and maintained professional and personal editing systems on both PC and MAC. 

 

Since then, Mike has created video and film content on most editing platforms and has shot with a wide variety of video cameras. He has also had experience compressing video formats for web based video, video on demand and interactive quicktime events.

 

Mike's freelance editing system is Davinci Resolve Studio and Photoshop for titles and lower third pngs.
